SEOs: Definition and Techniques
The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) began in 1990
and it is a group of methodologies with the objective to
increase visibility of a website in search engine listings
- a program which helps to find information on a computer
system, like personal computer or the World Wide Web, by
tipping, usually, a word or phrases. It also refers to the
consultants that create optimization projects for client
sites.
The listings in a Search Engine enlarge the site's
traffic. People work on comprehension of the internal logic
or algorithms of Search Engines, ensuring maximum
exposure for a website. Many artificial techniques, however,
are emploied, like the keyword spamming, which inserts a
random text at the bottom of webpage, with colors to match
the background of the page. The text usually includes words
that are frequently searched, like sex, to access large
streams of traffic.
The spam and flood became common between the search
engines and, then, many of them started to ask for money
to allow the general public and webmasters. Some SEOs
still offer free submit forms. Google is one of the
most famous SEO, but this search site also accepts
payment from some websites and, for them, they graphically
distinct their text from the unpaid. They use, yet, many
methods to avoid that paid placement be less visible than
truly irrelevant content.
The techniques of the Search Engine Optimization
are, essentially, to choose the right keywords for the site,
use hidden text (by using the same color of the background
for the font), use auto-print, a redirection page or mirror
sites. Many people also use comments in the tags of the
HTML code. No one can read these informations, unless they
view the source. With the use of a JavaScript, it stores
keywords into the pages. The ethic of these proceedings
is always questioned, and many SEOs were banned because
of the abuse.
